Color Inspiration: Melon

There is a color that is really haunting me right now.  It's an orangey-coral hue that carries names such as "deep cantaloupe" and "neon coral" in its various guises.  It seems a really fresh and new color to my spring-obsessed mind.

See what I mean?  Isn't it lovely?  I actually first observed it in these jeans by Seven for All Mankind, which carry the cool name Deep Cantaloupe to describe their color.  Something about that name really stuck with me.  It's such a cool fruit name, and one that I've never seen before.  I never particularly wanted to look like a cantaloupe before, but suddenly I find that I do.

Then there's this stunning bag by Proenza Schouler.  Their PS1 bag, in all its incarnations, tends to come out with seriously enviable new hues every year.  And this year, their "Neon Coral" is really speaking to me (as in Fashion Squad's picture above).  See?

Gorgeous, right?  In the past, I've taken all kinds of color hues from fruit-- after all, there's lemon, kiwi, tangerine, strawberry, etc.  This spring, I may just be taking my color cues from the cantaloupe.  Ahhhh, look here:

There it is, folks.  My latest Spring fashion inspiration.  Fresh from your grocer's shelves.
