Sharp Accents

Just a few details can take a drab uniform-like outfit up a notch, so that it looks cool and chic.  Here are some that I'm loving right now.  

First, there's Illamasqua's Kink nail polish-- a perfect dark, glossy green.  It says fall, upcoming holidays, dark-but-not-black.  A perfect nail accessory to add a little punch to an otherwise staid outfit.  

Next, there's J. Crew's glitter purse/clutch.  It has a hideaway chain strap, so it can be carried under the arm or over the shoulder.  And it adds just enough excitement to an outfit.  Look how Vogue staffer Preetma Singh made it work as a second bag here:

Pretty cool, right?  A totally unexpected pop of glitter in a daytime outfit.  Of course, the bag could also be dressed up with a nighttime ensemble as well (I'm thinking black dress, tights, high heels-- the obvious), but clearly it has lots of other possibilities as well.  And, given that it can be used as a second bag, you could lug it along with the bigger bag you've got filled with kid stuff (if you've still got one of those).  

Finally, another fun way to jazz up an outfit is by adding a piece of unexpected jewelry, like this neon bangle.  One moment, your outfit is boring, and the next it's shouting "Hellloooo!!  Look here!  I've got style!  And my bracelet is like a dose of caffeine every time you gaze at it!"  What better way to wake up an otherwise quiet outfit?

If the neon pink is too bold for you (or you want to go all out and add more bracelets), here is another cool option.  A chunky pave chain bracelet will also liven up your everyday outfit.  It looks like a million bucks (but isn't) and adds some interesting sparkle to your wrist.
