Magical Weekend

A few weekends ago, my family and I went to visit my brother and his family (and meet my new little niece) in Connecticut.  It ended up being one of those magical weekends that, in memory, seem surrounded by a soft mist and fairy dust.  Though no one had enough sleep (as happens when four kids under the age of 6 are under one roof), there were enough wonderful memories made to make sleep seem less necessary.

I wanted to share some of the magical moments with you.

My mom (whom her grandkids call "Bunny") showed up, per tradition, with tons of treats for the kids.  These included temporary glitter tattoos (which were applied to everyone's arms first thing the morning after we arrived), binoculars, bubbles, miniature kites, drinking straws shaped like glasses (seen below on my brother), flashlights (for reading in bed after mommies and daddies have told you to go to sleep-- she's definitely currying favor with the little ones), and a bunch of other treats.

We spent an afternoon at the park flying the kites, and it was so windy, that even my todder was able to keep one in the air for a while.

The cousins had a wonderful time together, playing and pretending.  And the fun got amped up when we went to a carnival on Friday night.  It was one of those little traveling carnivals that comes to local schools for a few days and was perfect for little kids.  There was a train (my son's favorite), a huge slide that made you question your judgment on the stairs climbing up to it, little cars for toddlers, and even a roller coaster (which my five year-old daughter managed to go on at least a dozen times, each adult joining her as many times as they could handle).

I wish you a magical weekend ahead!  (And a glitter tattoo wouldn't hurt, either.)
