Neon is not a new story. It's been around for multiple seasons now. But it's not going away anytime soon (it was all over the runways for Spring 2012), and I love it.
For decades, neon reminded me of cheap plastic sunglasses they sold at the beach during my youth-- remember the ones with black sides and neon yellow/green/pink fronts? Scary (especially because they were normally worn with some kind of cut-off tee-shirt that involved something like a spray paint effect and/or fringe). But no longer. For the past few years, neon has meant gorgeous accents to otherwise low-key outfits. Just take a look at this marvel:

Clearly, neon can make a grey tee shirt look totally unexpected and hip. But, if you're a little concerned about wearing a neon yellow laser-cut leather skirt like the one above on the singular Julia Sarr-Jamois, you can still be inspired by her idea. There are plenty of ways to incorporate a little (or a lot) neon into your outfit. Here are some ideas:

ReplyDeleteI'm with you. Especially in the winter. A gazzilian years ago, in Cleveland, I had bright apple green coat. In the gray slush, it was a beacon for smiles all around.
